Merce and the Muse

A Day with Monet
We are very excited to announce that beginning in April we will be offering a new tour ” A Day with Monet” about the life and work of the most famous impressionist painter in the world – with visits to the places that were the source and inspiration of so many of his masterpieces. His works are a celebration of painting itself, an expression of his total passion and delight in the colors, textures, and shapes of the landscapes he contemplated and we will immerse ourselves in this all day as we visit his painting spots along the Seine, his home and garden in Giverny and his collections in the Paris museums – Le Marmottan, L’Orangerie and the Orsay.
Our special day begins along the winding Seine river leaving Paris and going northwest towards Giverny , the tiny village at the door to Normandy. This is where Monet chose to live and to create a garden where a constantly changing array of colors express themselves in the thousands of flowers that bloom continuously for 7 months of the year. During our visit , in addition to experiencing the sheer beauty of the garden, we will attempt to understand the passion that motivated Monet’s horticultural endeavours as well as his artistic exploration and to put them into a historical context .
Our gourmet lunch will be made up of a vegan version of recipes from Monet’s own notebook of recipes and according to the weather be enjoyed outdoors as a picnic or in the warmth of a lovely Normand cottage.
Now that we have seen some of the major sources for Monet’s works we will return to Paris to visit the three places in Paris that house them – first the Marmottan, then the Orsay and finally the Orangerie. These visits will be focused exclusively on Monet’s paintings and with help from our carefully put together notebook, help put places, theme and times together.
Dates: Every Thursday from April 7th to October 27th
Times: Departure from Place de l’Etoile ( The Arc de Triomphe) at 8:30 am and return at 6:30 .
Prices ( including transportation , beautiful notebook to accompany our visits, an expert guide in gardening and art, a gourmet vegan lunch, entrance into Monet’s garden and home and three parisian museums with guide, tea and pastries from Monet’s recipe collection that we have expertly veganized !

Food Allergies? No Problem.
That’s why we’re here!
Families with special dietary needs now have a new comfortable destination in Paris where they can be assured their dietary needs will be met.
The Gentle Gourmet, established in 2009 as Paris’ first and only vegan B&B has attracted critical acclaim from vegan and non-vegans alike for its gourmet food and eco-conscious services. Now its proprietor, Deborah Brown Pivain, an American born resident of France for more than 30 years, has launched a Healthy Paris Package.
“We received lots of feedback from our guests telling us that there are many people who find their dietary requirements are not being met while traveling and that people were grateful we understood their needs” said Deborah.
“We have catered to many people with special dietary requirements due to health concerns – including people with gluten and lactose intolerance as well as nut allergies, diabetes, heart conditions, etc – so launching a Healthy Paris Package was a logical progression for us and people have been happy to find us.”
This statement reflects a broader international conundrum for people with special dietary and nutritional needs. The tourism and accommodation industry, while improving, has lagged behind in meeting the growing demand for such services. Their inadequate response has limited where some people can go on holiday, or worse, whether they can go on a holiday at all.
The Healthy Paris Package is unique in that it offers families a fully furnished modern two bedroom + two bathroom apartment with lounge and kitchen in complete privacy.

Guests pop in next door for meals where their special pre-arranged needs are met in a traditional B&B style setting with the Pivain family always ready to discuss food preferences and issues as well as the latest that Paris has to offer.
Solving the seemingly permanent challenge of where to eat can be resolved through advance planning and a packed picnic meals – enabling Gentle Gourmet guests to spend their day sight-seeing around Paris and not wasting time worrying about food.
The Gentle Gourmet’s Healthy Paris Package is offering seven nights for the price of six. Advance bookings are essential. We are located in the 16th arrondissement, minutes away from the Arc de Triumphe & Champs Elysees, and an easy 30 minutes walk to the Eiffel Tower.
